RMIA Risk Conference 2023 Highlights

3 Min Read

The 2023 RMIA Annual Risk Conference was a superb 3-day event held on the 8th to the 10th of May at the stunning Adelaide Oval. With more than 40 distinguished speakers and 18 cutting-edge topic streams, the conference cemented its status as a premier Australasian gathering for risk management professionals!

Every year, the Risk Management Institute of Australia hosts the RMIA Risk Conference which brings together risk professionals from across Australia to discuss the key trends currently driving the risk management sector. The event is a great opportunity for attendees to learn from leading experts in the field, network with fellow risk professionals, and gain valuable insights to help them manage risk in their organisation and take their skills to the next level.

Notable keynote speakers who took over the stage include 7-time world surfing champion Layne Beachley who delivered a fantastic opening speech which set up a successful conference. Ciara Lancaster delivered an engaging session on change and resilience, and Stephen Yarwood shared his experience as an ‘Urban Futurist’ and former Lord Mayor of Adelaide and educated attendees on how to adapt for the future and the strategies needed for success. Plus, Alan. D Thompson delivered a riveting session which inspired everyone to dream about the potential of AI in risk.

Key highlights of the conference included valuable breakfast sessions which offered the opportunity to engage with CROs and delve into their perspectives on the cultural shifts they would like to see in their organisations, the introduction to ‘Alan’- the ChatGPT enabled risk manager, and the vibrant energy of the gala dinner; which had an exciting 1980s theme that saw everything from bold fashion choices to groovy dance moves – making it a night to remember!

We were thrilled to sponsor the event and connect with all the Australian GRC professionals at the conference. As always, it’s a great opportunity to meet with our customers and the broader risk and resilience community to discuss industry changes & challenges, and exchange ideas on how to manage risk and respond to change effectively.

“It was a pleasure to be a sponsor of the RMIA Conference 2023! Our team enjoyed sharing how technology can support risk management teams to get a holistic view of risk and had an incredibly productive time offering guidance to all those who stopped by our booth as they look to grow and mature their risk management programmes.” – Beau Murfitt, Chief Revenue Officer
